2017 Lock-in

Please join us for our annual lock-in on Saturday – July 15, 2017 from noon to midnight. With reduced copies and lots of new resources, you will not want to miss it! Check the Events page for more information.

August Workshop

HCGS will present a two hour workshop at the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizen’s Center on Tuesday August 29, 2017 located at 150 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.  The workshop is free and lots of great information will be shared.

Volunteer Fair

Please stop by our booth Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 1:00 to 3:00 at the Senior Citizens Center; 150 Martin Luther King Drive; Sulphur Spring, Texas. This fair will help match interested people with available opportunities in Hopkins County.  Volunteering helps many ways. It helps you feel healthier and happy by connecting you to others. It is good for mind and body.  And it brings joy and fulfillment to your life. Learn how you can become a volunteer.  We are always looking for energetic and enthusiastic people!

Books On Sale

We are pleased to announce that the following two books Civil War Shadows and Hopkins County Pioneers, Vol. 2 are On Sale until September 30th.  Civil War Shadows normally sells for $60 but for this limited time will be $50. Authored by June England Tuck this book is hard to find. This is the last of June’s personal inventory and will probably not ever be reprinted.

Pioneers of Hopkins County, Texas -Volume 2 by Sylvia M. Kibart and Rita M. Adams normally sells for $40 is also reduced  to $30. Pioneers chronicles the lives of many early families. Both are hardbound editions.  So purchase your copies early by contacting the Genealogy library. HCGS is now able to accept Paypal payments for purchases.

October Podcast

Ever want to learn how to research your WWI ancestor?? Then do not miss Earl Pogue’s presentation as part of the October 20th lock-in and podcast series. HCGS is partnering with the Sulphur Springs Public Library and Waco – McClendon County Library to bring exciting genealogy speakers and topics to our area. This event is free.
